Saturday’s program will take place at the UNM–Valencia Campus. We will begin with a light continental breakfast, followed by the NMNWSE Business Meeting at 9:00 a.m. Although a business meeting may sound a little dry, the program will include engaging reports on our outreach and mentoring activities, along with important decisions about supporting these initiatives and the other programs to which NMNWSE contributes.
Our luncheon speaker will be TK O’Geary, a Toastmasters International Board member, TEDx speaker, and LSSM Black Belt. TK will speak about technical communication and how to deliver successful presentations. A wonderful supporter of STEM outreach—and a great friend of the Network—TK is a fabulous speaker who also joined us for our recent membership event at the King Ranch.
Saturday afternoon will feature presentations by some of our mentees. After learning from TK, they will share their posters and practice their “elevator speeches.” We will all have the opportunity to serve as friendly and encouraging mentors during this session.
Participants may also have an opportunity to tour the local wildlife refuge with NMNWSE member Professor Claudia Barreto on Saturday afternoon.
The crowning event of the weekend will be the presentation of the 2026 NMNWSE IMPACT! Award. Please visit the NMNWSE website to learn about our previous outstanding award recipients. The award banquet will be held at the historic Teofilo’s Restaurante in Los Lunas. All previous IMPACT! Award winners are invited, and it is always exciting to see who joins us to help honor the newest recipient.
We hope you will join us for an inspiring weekend of STEM outreach, mentoring, professional development, networking, and celebration!
