Since its founding 43 years ago, New Mexico Network for Women in Science and Engineering has been supporting and advocating for women in technical professions. We operate across the State of New Mexico, with members in many of the major cities and towns. Our members include physicists and biomedical engineers, chemical engineers and electronics engineers, higher education faculty and nonprofit founders. They work in nuclear weapons design and computational physics, applied mathematics and computer science and a host of other technical fields. As a networking organization, we have a broad range of collaborations and partnerships with national and state universities, corporations, laboratories and other organizations. Through our sponsorships and collaborations, we host a variety of social and educational activities to help our diverse members interact and get to know each other.

“I am amazed at the diversity of careers NM Network members have and how many of them have pivoted to attack other areas that interest them”.

We foster growth and empowerment for young girls through STEM-related workshops and awards celebrating their technical and academic accomplishments. We support major STEM workshops annually in Santa Fe, Albuquerque, Las Cruces, Silver City and Carlsbad. These workshops are designed to inspire young women to enter technical careers and provide role models/mentors in those fields they can engage with. We promote and celebrate the accomplishments of young women in science and engineering competitions with special awards for activities in statewide science fairs, computing and robotics events and at science camps. Find Out More About Our Awards.

The Annual IMPACT! Award, established in collaboration with the New Mexico Commission on the Status of Women, honors the accomplishments of our New Mexico women scientists and engineers. Nominate a deserving woman for an award!

Our Annual Meeting and Technical Symposium provides an opportunity to present technical papers in a supportive environment as well as professional development and networking opportunities. We also sponsor social and educational activities to connect our diverse set of members across the State.
