Annual Technical Symposium & Business Meeting (AM24)

The NM Network for Women in Science and Engineering (NMNWSE) invites you to our 2024 Annual Membership Meeting to be held in Los Alamos October 18-20, 2024. NMNWSE (nmnwse.org) is a volunteer, non-profit professional organization that strives to connect women across New Mexico who have a passion for their chosen fields in science and engineering. The network offers professional and supportive mentoring for women at all stages in their careers (students, postdocs, early career, science teachers, staff, etc) and seeks students and young professionals to present their work in the technical session in a supportive environment! Get to know here the Network’s Board of Directors and RSVP before COB 10/14 if you are interested in attending the different sessions so we can plan a fantastic 2024 Annual Meeting and Technical Symposium in Los Alamos.
The Annual Meeting offers an opportunity for new and prospective members to learn more about the Network’s impact and successes, inspiring and mentoring women throughout all their career stages and the endless opportunities for STEM volunteering in New Mexico. The network is very grateful to its members and supporters.
The annual meeting will start on Friday, October 18th, from 5-8pm at SALA Los Alamos Event Center (2551 Central Ave, Los Alamos, NM 87544 https://sala.losalamos.com/) with “Meet and Greet with Wine and Cheese” and offers an opportunity to members and prospective members to learn about the network through one-on-one interactions with network’s members. NMNWSE President Dr. Haylie Lobeck will also provide a formal introduction about the network and the Historic Women Marker Program (https://www.nmhistoricwomen.org/ (an IWF-NM Program) will showcase their efforts celebrating New Mexico’s Trailblazing Women. This event is FREE and open to all members and interested parties ( RSVP)
Members and non members interested in participating in the Gathering to visit Los Alamos and its history with members of NMNWSE on October 18th from 10-12pm are also encouraged to register ( RSVP)
SaturdayOctober 19th, the “2024 Annual Business Meeting” will be held from 9am-4pm at the Bradbury Science Museum (1450 Central Ave, Los Alamos). This event is open to NMNWSE members and prospective members, requires registration and offers a unique opportunity to learn about the different network teams across NM, brainstorm about the network’s potential activities in 2025 and offers for volunteering assistance to the network. Lunch, non-alcoholic beverages and snacks will be covered under the 2024 Annual Business Meeting registration fee ($75) and will be provided at the Bradbury Science Museum by Señor Tortas. Attendees will be delighted with the network’s invited speaker Jodi Morris (https://jodimorris.co/) who will be sharing her insights about the importance of collaboration and her international successes. Attendees will have an opportunity to network with other new members, students, teachers and others presenting at the technical session.
On Saturday evening from 6-8pm the “2024 NMNWSE Gala” will be hosted at Beef & Leaf (3801 Arkansas Ave Suite G, Los Alamos, NM 87544 – $60 per person for 3 courses including non-alcoholic beverages and great wine bar available at the cash bar) where the 2024 NMNWSE Impact! Award winner will be announced and honored. Please, RSVP to confirm your attendance to the “2024 NMNWSE Gala” and pre-pay for your tickets. You will be rejoiced with the different plates proposed by our fantastic chef Laura Crucet and recommended cash-bar pairing wines. Come help us celebrate our outstanding 2024 recipient as well as past award winners in attendance.
On Sunday, October 20th from 9am-12pm, the 2023-2024 NMNWSE State-wide Board meeting will be held at the Holiday Inn Express Los Alamos conference room (60 Entrada Dr, Los Alamos). If members are interested in serving on the Board please feel free to contact any member of the Board and/or attend the Sunday Meeting.
The registration fee for the full meeting is $75. The “2024 NMNWSE Gala” Dinner will require $60 per person pre-payment and includes non-alcoholic beverages. The Network’s annual membership dues are $40 for professionals and $10 for students.
