Dr. Katie Wozniak earned a B.S. in Biochemistry from Duquesne University in 2014, and a Ph.D. from the University of Pittsburgh in Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental Biology in 2019. Immediately following graduate school, Katie did a Teaching Postdoc at the University of Pittsburgh. Katie is currently a Postdoctoral Research Associate at the Los Alamos National Laboratory in New Mexico. At LANL, Katie works within the Agile Biofoundry to synthetically engineer microbial hosts to produce industrially-relevant bioproducts, such as bioplastics.
As a researcher and STEM educator, Katie believes that science should be readily accessible and understandable to a broad audience. She has a particular interest in taking complex scientific concepts/ideas and distilling them into digestible stories that all people can understand. She is excited to share her passion for science with the youth of New Mexico via working with NMNWSE.
