Building a Robot at an NMNWSE EYH |
Expanding Your Horizons (EYH) Conferences offer a unique - and fun! - opportunity for young women in middle and high school to explore their career options through small hands-on technical career workshops led by female professionals from their local community who have found satisfying careers in law, mathematics, engineering, computing, medicine, and other technical and non-traditional careers. The conferences also include a component for the teachers and other adults who accompany the students to EYH.
national EYH Girls Area -
includes description of typical EYH conference, a chat area, video interviews of role models, timeline of women's contributions, etc.

The 2010 Albuquerque, Los Alamos, and Silver City EYHs are over - thanks to all who helped!
2011 Conference information anticipated January, 2011.
Currently four NMNWSE EYH conferences are held each spring, often in March to coincide with Women's History Month. Further details are on the pages above. We are in the process of adding more - contact the NMNWSE Board if you'd like to sponsor or be involved. The NMNWSE EYH conferences are licensed from the national Expanding Your Horizons Network by the New Mexico Network for Women in Science and Engineering (NMNWSE), as part of NMNWSE's mission to encourage the the entry into and career development of women in science and engineering professions. Conference attendees are given a copy of NMNWSE's Career Book, along with student and adult information packets developed by the national EYH Network, and other career information which emphasizes that taking math and science courses in school opens the doors to a wide variety of rewarding careers.
NMNWSE partners with many organizations and businesses to bring you these conferences. These partners, as well as the exact date, format, and age ranges served by each conference vary. The links in the EYH navigation bar at left are updated with current year details and registation information by mid-January.
For students who wish to further investigate their career options, or who not have the opportunity to attend, we have also provided links to career materials available online under Web Resources in the navigation bar at left.
